"Every great crusader must have his comrade in arms (sidekick). In this case, it's not Sancho Panza, but Manny, with the popsicle cart, play by Ernie González with just the right amount of naiveté, blind allegiance, and arduousness. This is a character you can love. He just wants to believe in Quijano so badly. You can feel it in every fiber of this actor's being."
-The Rogue Valley Times 07/30/25
"...Manny is played by Ernie Gonzalez, Jr. navigating beautifully the humor and sincerity of a man who follows Quixote even while he can see the man is lost.
-Oregon Arts Watch  8/29/25
"Other standouts are Amy Lizardo as Phoebe and Ernie González, Jr., as her paramour Silvius, whose comedic chemistry keep the energy boosted..."

“I thought you were the definitive Silvius. Yours is one of those extremely rare performances where people leave the theatre with the knowledge that they will never see the role done better.” - OSF Patron 6/22/25
Hi Mr. Gonzalez Jr, our family just saw your amazing performance in Quixote Nuevo at OSF, and you were the favorite actor of the season." - OSF Patron 8/8/25
“Though he plays the sidekick, Gonzalez steals the show. He has some of the funniest lines in the entire play and never misses a comedic beat. He grasps not only the humor of his character but of the production overall. Solis’ witty writing and creative bilingual wordplay deserve much of the credit as well, of course, but I can’t imagine anyone better than Gonzalez to perform them. He was the perfect Sancho to Siguenza’s Quixote. Their chemistry was delightful to witness and never made for a dull moment anytime they were together.” -Drama in the Hood 1/28/24
“Ernie González Jr stole the show with his Sancho Panza comedic relief.”

"simply superb"
- Newport Beach Independent, 10/13/23
Every Quixote must have his Sancho Panza and Ernie Gonzalez, Jr., whose program bio notes a professional penchant for playing Shakespearean clowns, has the plaintive persona of the fool - often slyly the wisest man in the room - totally down. Playing Manny, the local ice cream street vendor, Gonzalez is willing to not just sidekick Quixote on his desert wanderings but support the underlying truths underpinning the fantastical journey.” - The Orange County Register, 10/10/23
"scene stealer Ernie González, Jr."
- Broadway World, 10/17/23
